It has been a HOT minute since I wrote my own blog post! It turns out having two kids and running a business isn’t the easiest but more on that later. I have more and more friends who are announcing their pregnancy and after two kids I think I know a thing or two about the best products out there for both baby and mama. If you are newly pregnant or know someone who is feel free to send them this link!
Absolutely none of this content is sponsored (but hey, I’m not against it if this post finds the right people!). This is a list of all the things I found to be the most helpful throughout my pregnancies and first year with a baby.
For Mama
Skin:
- Cetaphil is the best face wash, body wash, and lotions for your skin. There are a lot of products by Cetaphil and any of them will be great.
- Cerave is another great brand if you find Cetaphil isn’t working for you.
- Foot cream. You’ll want foot rubs and to avoid dry skin.
- Hydrocolloid bandages. Wear these at night on your zits and they will suck out all the yucky stuff. I personally get bigger ones and cut them to size.
Sleep:
- A pregnancy pillow with a comfy cover. Your hips will hurt. Your back will hurt. You’ll want to sleep before the tiny human arrives. Your partner may complain but anything for comfort is worth it! Get the pillow.
- A nightlight. You’re gonna be up and down all night between insomnia and having to use the bathroom. Avoid using your phone or phone’s flashlight to help you get back to sleep faster.
- A Fan. Hormones are wild and being hot while asleep is the worst.
Clothes:
- Enbliss from Soma is a really comfy bra.
- Lululemon Aligns. You may need to size up toward the end of pregnancy but this line is buttery soft.
- Spanx has non-constricting maternity leggings but I haven’t tried them personally. I do love the brand though so maybe with baby 3 I could leave an honest review!
- Loft maternity is great!
For Welcoming Baby
For Mama:
- Register for the Frieda Mom Kit + extra diapers (yes, the diapers are for yourself) and if you don’t receive it as a gift, buy it yourself. The gown is perfect for labor and all the things in there are 10/10. The peri bottle and diapers alone are worth it but that cooling foam is beyond!
- Get a second labor delivery gown for after your first shower. They’re very comfy and easy to do skin to skin in. I had a long sleeve and tank top one I switched between and it made me feel way better than when I wore a hospital gown the entire time.
- Milk collector cups. I used these immediately for baby #2 and i was able to save colostrum and a ton of milk. But the best part is my nipples didn’t hurt like last time. I continued using them through the first 3 months at least and it made breastfeeding way easier all around!
- A robe. Splurge on a comfy robe! You just welcomed a human into the world and deserve all the comfy things.
- A cute going home outfit for baby. They won’t need anything else in the hospital – the hospital provides everything for you!
For Home
- The Snoo. The Snoo sometimes gets a bad rep because of the price. A lot of mom groups are very anti-Snoo but it boils down to the expense. Yes, it has special sleep technology but for me it was more about the peace of mind. The Snoo has customizable settings and ensures your baby’s safety. It really helped my anxiety and we got some decent sleep! If you aren’t able to commit to the purchase there is a really great reselling network and you can rent directly from the company.
- Hatch Baby Rest sound machine. I love the wave setting with a custom color I choose but whatever works for you!
- Blackout curtains. Baby needs a dark room for those naps.
- Humidifier and fan. Follow the safest sleep recommendations and use a fan in hot weather and humidifier in the winter.
For Baby
- Nose Frieda
- Frieda nail clippers
- Diaper Genie
- Aquaphor
- Silicone catch-all bibs
Notes
- Bottles vary between babies so it’s a guessing game!
- Pumps: I like Spectra but different people respond to different pumps. If you are going to be pumping a lot I would look into the Willow.
- I think the Boppy pillow is overrated and never use ours.
